January 26th, February 2nd, February 9th 7-8:30 pm eastern time
Wednesday sessions, with renowned liturgist Rabbi Reuven Kimelman, will focus on the themes of the Biblical texts and the connections between:
1. How does literary theory help us understand the first unit of the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) as an integrated literary unit while maximizing its meaning?
2. How does the second unit of the Shema (Deuteronomy 11:13-24)
revamp the first to sustain loyalty to g?d despite the enticements of idolatry?
3. How is unit three of the Shema (Numbers 15:37-41) linked to the first two?
Thursday sessions with Light Lab founder Eliana Light will seek to move the liturgy through us, alchemizing it into prayer through partnered study, chant, song, meditation, and personal reflection.
The class is open to all! Donations are optional, suggested 5-10 dollars per class.
